Cardiff Now & Then
Tiger Puppet
This is a puppet show made by Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2022. Now & Then takes the audience to a world where Cardiff past and present collide with fantastical puppetry, movement and music made, composed and performed by RWCMD students.
As a member in the show, i was in the group of Cardiff Bay - Docks. As Crdiff Bay was also called Tiger Bay, we managed to build a real tiger puppet to represent Cardiff Bay.
It's a four-people-puppeteer tiger puppet.
One in the front holding the tiger's head.
One in the chest of tiger carrying the tiger on the back and holding tiger's two front legs by the hooks on the knees.
One in the butt of tiger carrying the tiger on the back and holding tiger's two back legs by the sticks on the low legs.
One following the tiger and holding the stick on the tail to control it.

As the whole tiger is made of willow, so while rendering, we decided to use calico died into black, brown, orange and yellow (and its original white) tear into strips to wrape around willow structure tiger.
